About Jennifer
Jennifer Dontz is
basically self-taught in the art of cake decorating. She lives in Manistee,
Michigan with her husband of almost 28 years, Jeff, and they have two boys, Joe
26 and Jason 23. She has been decorating for 35 years. Her floral background
inspires her to keep striving for the most realism possible in her flowers and
foliage. She now travels and teaches throughout the United States, sharing her
love for the art. Jennifer currently offers three classes, Fondant, Flowers and
Fun, which teaches numerous fondant techniques, including covering a cake and
also some gumpaste flowers. Potpourri Of Posies, which covers beautiful lifelike
gumpaste flowers that the brides are asking for today, and Berries and Blossoms,
which covers more beautiful gumpaste flowers and berry stems.
Jennifer's work has been featured in numerous magazines like "Here Comes The
Cake", "Northern Michigan wedding and Event", "Women's Lifestyle", and "the Knot
- Michigan". She also was featured on the cover of the ICES monthly publication.
One of her proudest accomplishments was being chosen to be the cake designer for
the nationwide 2007 John Henry Floral Book. If you go to your local florist and
ask if they have the new John Henry book, you may see more of her work. She also
has finished working on another floral book for BloomNet, an affiliate of 1-800
FLOWERS. Jennifer is very excited to share her talents on two instructional DVDs
on her chocolate fondant and fondant techniques.
On a personal note, Jennifer says she loves the art of sugar and loves teaching
it to others. Anyone can do this, regardless of skill level - Come join the fun!
She is also an ICES approved teacher.
